| I tried an experiment last Thursday on Calaveras. I get good results by using a Carolina type rig with a 1/0 circle hook. A catfish guy at Fisherman's Corner commented after seeing my set-up that my rig was to big a production and I would have better results with just a hook and egg sinker. I anchored at my spot and threw both rigs within 20 yards of each other baited the same with shrimp and dip. Over 2 hours, my rig produced 7 keeper channel cats while the "simple rig" produced only one. It had 3 bites but 2 got off. I would have stayed longer but the lightning kicked me off the lake. |
